Borno Police Arrest 65 Suspects, Recover Weapons, Illicit Drugs

The Borno State Police Command has arrested 65 suspects and recovered dangerous weapons and illicit drugs during coordinated raid operations across parts of the state.

The operations were carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on January 5 and 8, 2026, following actionable intelligence on suspected criminal hideouts.

A statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the raids were conducted under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, as part of sustained efforts to maintain law and order in the state.

According to the statement, items recovered during the operations include five cutlasses, nine knives, 49 wraps of Indian hemp, five wraps and six bottles of substances popularly known as “suck and die,” 14 wraps of ermo, half a bottle of piscuf, 25 tablets of Tramadol, 77 tablets of Exol, 82 tablets of D5, six ice blocks, two diamond solutions, three customised antelope horns and one shisha pot.

The police said the suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of inquiries.

CP Abdulmajid reassured residents of Borno State of the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and criminality in all its forms.
