Civil servants in Borno State have started receiving their October salaries with the newly approved minimum wage of N77,000, a 156% increase from the previous N30,000.
A beneficiary working with the state’s ministry of information and internal security, Zainab, confirmed the development said they started receiving the alert on Friday morning.
‘I received my own this morning, All thanks to the state government,’ she said.
This development comes after President Bola Tinubu signed the new minimum wage bill into law in July 2024.
Borno State is one of the states that have implemented the new minimum wage, providing relief to workers struggling with economic hardship.
The payment was delayed due to arrangements to incorporate the new minimum wage, but civil servants can now breathe a sigh of relief as they receive their increased salaries.
This boost in income will help alleviate financial pressures and enable workers to better meet their basic needs.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had earlier constituted a committee to discuss the modalities for implementing the new minimum wage in Borno State.
