Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has ordered the immediate suspension of ward and village heads found guilty of illegally selling land belonging to the Maiduguri airport.
Zulum gave the directive during a media chat on Monday morning in Hausa, where he condemned the unauthorized sale of government land.
The governor clarified that compensation for the land had already been paid since 1976, warning that no further claims would be entertained. However, he assured that the state government would provide assistance—not compensation—to those affected.
He further issued a stern warning against illegal land transactions, stressing that individuals involved in such activities would face consequences.
