Buni Chairs Security Council Meeting, Expands Operation Haba Maza Security Outfit

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday presided over the State Security Council meeting in Damaturu, with heads of security agencies in attendance.

The meeting reviewed the current security situation in the state and identified key areas requiring improved interventions.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Affairs, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), announced the expansion of the state’s security outfit, “Operation Haba Maza,” into a joint security task force comprising all security agencies.

“From now henceforth, Operation Haba Maza will have additional units in Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, Geidam, and Buni Yadi,” Abdulsalam stated.

He said the expansion was aimed at enhancing internal security across the state, adding that Gov. Buni had approved increased logistics support for security agencies to improve their operational efficiency.

The adviser explained that the temporary closure of three weekly markets in the state was a precautionary measure to protect residents amid ongoing security operations.

“There are ongoing operations in those areas, and the security agencies are working proactively to prevent any security threats,” he said.

He appealed to residents for cooperation and support, assuring that the state government and security agencies were working together to sustain and improve the security gains recorded so far.
