Buni Presents N515.6bn ‘Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation’ to Yobe Assembly

Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has presented a budget estimate of N515.583 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

Presenting the appropriation bill on Thursday in Damaturu, Buni said the budget, tagged “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation,” was designed to accelerate development and consolidate ongoing reforms in key sectors of the state economy.

The 2026 proposal marks a significant increase from the N320.811 billion budget of the outgoing year, reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving service delivery.

According to the governor, N192.128 billion, representing 37.3 per cent, was allocated for recurrent expenditure, while N323.455 billion, representing 62.7 per cent, was earmarked for capital projects.

Buni said the budget would focus on sustaining progress in healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructural development, including road construction, electricity, and water supply.

Highlighting some key projects, the governor disclosed plans to establish a dialysis centre in Gashua to provide relief for kidney patients and to construct a new General Hospital in Potiskum to ease pressure on the Specialist Hospital in the area.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent resource management, improved revenue generation, and the completion of all ongoing projects across the state.
