Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has cautioned political job seekers against actions that could destabilize the state’s governance and divert the government’s focus.
The governor issued the warning during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed permanent secretaries and other public officers on Tuesday in Damaturu.
“I have noted in recent times the emerging politicking for 2027. As a government, we are concentrating on executing our campaign promises to the people,” Buni stated.
He emphasized that any political engagement by public officers or civil servants aimed at the 2027 elections would be seen as sabotage and a deliberate attempt to derail the administration’s developmental agenda.
“This administration still has ample time to concentrate on its developmental strides, institute good governance, and provide efficient services to the people. You are therefore warned,” he added.
The governor reminded the appointees of their critical role in ensuring the government delivers on its promises. He urged them to prioritize teamwork, reward hard work, and place public interest above personal gains.
“The oath of office you have sworn to imposes a moral burden on you to serve with the fear of God and in the interest of the state,” Buni remarked, expressing optimism that the appointees would uphold professionalism and dedication in their duties.
He called on the new officers to leverage their expertise to contribute to the state’s development, stressing that their collective efforts would propel Yobe to greater heights.
The governor concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises and promoting good governance.
