Buni Vows to Maintain Security in Yobe After Buni Yadi Market IED Incident

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. This follows an incident at Buni Yadi market where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted.

DG Press, and Media Affairs to the Governor, on Friday in Damaturu.

From the reports, there is just a casualty of a young girl hawking water at the cattle market who stepped on the concealed IED and survived with an injury on her leg.

Governor Buni directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to evacuate the lone casualty to the State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

He said the security operatives are carefully working on the details, including the suspects and their entry route.

Gov. Buni said there is a huge progress in the ongoing investigation “We will not relent, we would not allow anyone or group to reverse the progress made in the security of our state.

He called on the people to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons and movements in their areas. “Together, we will always win the battle of good over evil.”

Meanwhile, the army ordinance has successfully  removed two other undetonated explosives planted in the market.

In a remarkable show of resilience, business activities continued at the Buni Yadi weekly market after the incident peacefully and successfully.
