In a bid to strengthen security and foster collaboration, the Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, paid a visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola on Wednesday.
Governor Fintiri, accompanied by top government functionaries, welcomed the Chief of Army Staff and his entourage, acknowledging the crucial role of the Nigerian Army in maintaining peace and security in the state.
In his address, Governor Fintiri highlighted the existing collaboration between the Army and the state government, which has led to the safeguarding of lives and properties. He announced plans to build schools at the 23 Brigade Yola and connect the Army base to the road network as part of his urban renewal initiative.
Despite acknowledging the enormity of security challenges facing the nation, Governor Fintiri expressed confidence in the capacity and quality of the Nigerian Army to address the situation with necessary support.
Maj. Gen. Lagbaja reassured the governor of the Army’s continued support in preserving peace and order within the state, further solidifying the partnership between the military and the state government.
