Citizens, Rights Advocates Urge Govt Intervention in Mandiragrau Humanitarian Crisis

Concerned citizens and human rights advocates have issued a passionate appeal to the Federal and State Governments to take swift and decisive action in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Mandiragrau village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

In an open letter addressed to Nigeria’s political leaders, the group highlighted the plight of residents who have been displaced from their homes following repeated attacks by insurgents. The ongoing violence, they noted, has left families homeless, traumatized, and deprived of essential services such as food, water, shelter, and medical care.

“The people of Mandiragrau have been forced to flee their homes due to the relentless onslaught of insurgent violence, leaving them displaced, vulnerable, and without access to basic necessities,” the letter stated.

Describing the situation as dire, the advocates called for an urgent, coordinated, and compassionate response from local, state, and federal authorities. They emphasized that the crisis in Mandiragrau is a stark reflection of the broader security and humanitarian challenges posed by insurgency in the country.

“This is not the time for silence or delay. The victims in Mandiragrau need food, shelter, healthcare, and above all, protection,” the statement added.

The signatories urged leaders to prioritize the dignity and well-being of the affected population and to implement sustainable measures that would not only bring relief but also restore the livelihoods of displaced residents.

“The people of Mandiragrau deserve nothing less than our collective best efforts to restore their lives and livelihoods,” they emphasized. “We look forward to seeing tangible actions that reflect the commitment of our leaders to the welfare of all Nigerians, particularly those in the most vulnerable situations.”

The advocates concluded by reaffirming their readiness to collaborate with all levels of government and humanitarian agencies to ensure that no one is left behind in the quest for a secure and just society.
