The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has upgraded its Gombe State office to the status of the North-East Regional Office as part of efforts to strengthen engineering regulation and professional development in the region.

According to the statement, the Council will host a one-day stakeholders’ summit and the inauguration of the COREN North-East Regional Steering Committee (NERSC) on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Gombe. The event will commence at 10 a.m.
The summit will bring together key players in the engineering and construction sectors across the North-East to discuss strategies for advancing the profession and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
Special Guests of Honour expected at the event include the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Dan Majen Gombe), and his counterparts from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, and Taraba States.
The Head of the North-East Regional Office, Engr. Mustapha Ali Monguno, who announced the event, said the establishment of the regional office marks a major milestone in COREN’s decentralization strategy aimed at improving efficiency, monitoring, and coordination across the geopolitical zones.
He added that the summit would also provide a platform for professional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of sustainable solutions to engineering and infrastructure challenges in the North-East.
The COREN North-East Regional Office is expected to serve as a hub for policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and professional regulation across the six states in the zone.
