Customs Disowns Fake Recruitment Shortlist, Gives Update on 2025 Exercise

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a viral publication circulating on social media claiming to show a state-by-state list of shortlisted candidates for its 2025 recruitment exercise.

In a statement on Friday, the Service described the post as fake and urged applicants and the general public to disregard it, noting that it did not originate from the NCS or any of its authorized communication channels.

“The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to a misleading publication circulating online purporting to contain names of shortlisted candidates for the 2025 recruitment. The publication is fake and should be ignored,” the statement said.

Providing an update on the ongoing recruitment process, the NCS disclosed that a total of 573,523 applications were received across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Assistant cadres.

According to the Service, 286,697 applicants have been shortlisted for the first phase of the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

It added that only successful candidates under the Superintendent Cadre would proceed to the second phase of the recruitment exercise, which will be conducted across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

The NCS advised applicants to rely solely on official communication channels — including the Service’s website and verified social media handles — for credible updates.

It reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and merit-based selection in the recruitment process.
