The governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has been honoured with an Environmental Excellence Award by the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES).
The award was presented at the 33rd Annual National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday.
The three-day event was themed “Environmental Resource Management, Conservation and Protection in the Global Emerging Innovative Technology for Sustainable Development.”
The award recognises Governor Zulum’s exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development in Borno State.
Hon. Umaru Bako, senior technical assistant to the governor, who accepted the award on the governor’s behalf, said. “I am privileged and delighted to receive this award on behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State.”
“This recognition underscores the significant strides Borno State has made in environmental conservation and sustainable practices.”
The NES conference brought together environmental experts, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss and propose solutions to pressing environmental challenges at the global, national and local levels.
