Emir of Damaturu Urges Traders to Reduce Food Prices, Support Common People

The Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin Elkenemi, has appealed to traders in Yobe State to reduce the prices of essential goods, citing the hardship faced by the common people due to the rising cost of living.

The monarch, in a statement, expressed his concern over the increasing prices of essential commodities in the state, urging traders to consider the plight of the people and reduce prices to make goods more affordable.

“I want to inform you that we are worried about the rising prices of commodities in the state. I implore the traders to make essential goods more affordable for the general public, especially the less privileged,” he said.

He emphasised that excessive profits, particularly on essential items like food, go against moral principles and urged government officials to continue assisting the less privileged.

The royal father acknowledged the economic hardship faced by the less fortunate, particularly their struggle to afford basic food items in Yobe and Nigeria at large.

He advised the traders to sell at affordable rates and to explore various means to make their prices accessible to ordinary citizens.

He also urged various organizations in society to redouble their efforts in assisting persons with disabilities and the less privileged to survive this period.
