The Federal Ministry of Works has commenced a nationwide recruitment exercise for unemployed graduates and skilled artisans under its 2025 Capacity Building and On-Site Training Programme.
The recruitment, open to Nigerians across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, is aimed at strengthening technical capacity, reducing youth unemployment and supporting the delivery of critical federal infrastructure projects in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the ministry, the programme targets unemployed youths who will be deployed to federal road and infrastructure projects within or close to their areas of residence, where they will receive hands-on training, mentorship and practical exposure to modern construction methods.
The recruitment covers graduate mechanical engineers as well as skilled artisans, including carpenters, masons, steel reinforcement workers, plumbers, welders and fabrication workers, surveying assistants, electrical installation workers and heavy equipment operators.
For the graduate category, applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years, possess a BSc, BEng, BA or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, and provide evidence of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) completion, exemption or exclusion. Applicants must also be unemployed at the time of application.
Artisans applying for other categories are required to be Nigerian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years, possess recognised vocational or trade test certificates or verifiable practical experience, and be physically fit for field-based construction work.
The ministry said successful candidates would benefit from monthly stipends, hands-on training on federal projects, mentorship by registered engineers and certified supervisors, certification upon completion, and priority consideration for future government or contractor engagements.
Interested and qualified candidates are to submit their applications via email to registryfmw@fmw.gov.ng, using the job title as the subject of the mail. Applications must include a curriculum vitae, academic credentials, NYSC certificate or exemption letter, passport photograph, valid means of identification and a Local Government Area certificate of origin.
The ministry noted that shortlisted candidates would be invited for verification and orientation, adding that no deadline has been specified for the exercise, but applicants are advised to apply early.
