Federal Roads: Gov. Buni Tasks House Committee On Ferma On Rehabilitation

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has called on the House of Representatives Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to prioritise the rehabilitation of dilapidated federal roads in the state, especially as the rainy season intensifies.

Governor Buni made the appeal on Thursday in Damaturu while receiving members of the committee on a courtesy visit.

He expressed concern over the poor state of federal roads in the state, describing them as serious security risks.

“The bad portions of these roads have unfortunately become traps for motorists, forcing them to slow down and making them easy targets for criminal elements,” Buni said.

He stressed that fixing the roads would not only enhance transportation but also improve security across the state.

The governor listed several federal roads requiring urgent attention, including Bara-Gulani, Buni-Bara, Kaliyari-Bayamari, and Geidam-Maine Soroa roads.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the House Committee on FERMA, Hon. Aderemi Abasi Oseni, said the committee was on an assessment tour of federal roads across the region.

He assured that the committee had taken note of the critical road sections and would work towards their prompt rehabilitation.

Hon. Oseni also commended Governor Buni for his efforts in expanding road infrastructure across the state, noting that such developments were vital for boosting economic activities and improving livelihoods.
