Federal University Dutse Advertises for Position of Vice-Chancellor

The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, has invited applications from qualified candidates for the position of Vice-Chancellor, following the expiration of the current tenure on Feb. 10, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Abubakar Mijinyawa, the council said the appointment would be for a single term of five years, non-renewable, in line with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act No. 11 of 1993 as amended.

According to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the institution, responsible for general supervision, administration, and implementation of policies and programmes. The position also entails chairing the Senate, serving as an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and maintaining peace and order within the university.

Applicants must be distinguished scholars with academic and administrative leadership abilities, hold a Ph.D., and be a Professor for at least five years. They must also have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in university teaching, research, and administration, with evidence of securing research grants and funding.

Other requirements include high moral character, integrity, ICT proficiency, effective communication skills, and being physically and mentally fit. Candidates must not be older than 65 years at the time of assumption of duty.

Applications, with 25 copies of detailed Curriculum Vitae, are to be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Dutse” to the Registrar within six weeks from the date of the advertisement.

The announcement also directed candidates to arrange for three referees to send confidential reports directly to the Registrar before the closing date.

Federal University Dutse, established on Feb. 9, 2011, has 11 faculties, including a College of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences, a School of Postgraduate Studies, and a student population exceeding 20,000.
