Federal University Gashua Matriculates 927 Students

Federal University Gashua, FUGA, in Yobe has matriculated 927 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The matriculation marked a formal induction of students across the university’s faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Sciences, Education and Management and Social Sciences.

Speaking at the occasion in Gashua on Saturday, the Vice- Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, congratulated the new students and urged them to pursue their academic careers with discipline, focus, and integrity.

“Your admission into this university is not by chance. It is a testament to your hard work and the grace of God.

“By taking the matriculation oath today, you are committing to the values of academic integrity, discipline, respect, and the pursuit of excellence,” she stated.

Mrs Waziri reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing a conducive and supportive learning environment and equipping students with knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a competitive global landscape.

The vice chancellor, however, cautioned the students against engaging in social vices, reiterating the institution’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice and other forms of misconduct.

“Let me emphasize that FUGA does not tolerate examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, truancy, or any other behaviour that contradicts the values of this institution.

“As you begin this new journey, I encourage you to abide by the university’s rules and regulations and let honesty, discipline be your guide,” she added.

Waziri advised the students to key into the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a Federal Government initiative aimed at enhancing access to higher education for all Nigerian students.Daily Nigerian merchandise
