
The Federal Government has approved the allocation of funds to 15 beneficiary institutions under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the establishment of innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centres across the country.
The initiative is designed to strengthen research and development capacity, foster innovation, and drive economic growth through technology-enabled solutions in tertiary institutions.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the approved institutions will receive funding ranging from ₦750 million to ₦1 billion each, depending on their category, to develop fully equipped Core Labs and Workstations.
The innovation hubs will include specialized laboratories such as Electronic Labs, 3D Printing Labs, Laser Technology Labs, Product Design Labs, Robotics and Coding Labs, and Artificial Intelligence facilities.
The 15 TETFund beneficiary institutions and their respective allocations are as follows:
1. Federal University Dutse – ₦1 billion
2. University of Uyo – ₦1 billion
3. University of Ibadan – ₦1 billion
4. Federal Polytechnic Bida – ₦750 million
5. Taraba State Polytechnic, Jalingo – ₦750 million
6. Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola – ₦750 million
7. Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria – ₦750 million
8. Kano State Polytechnic, Kano – ₦750 million
9. Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana – ₦750 million
10. Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State – ₦750 million
11. Bayelsa State Polytechnic, Aleibiri – ₦750 million
12. Federal Polytechnic, Ede – ₦750 million
13. Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo – ₦750 million
14. College of Education (Technical), Kabba – ₦750 million
15. Enugu State College of Education (Technical) – ₦750 million
TETFund said the programme will accelerate the commercialization of research output, encourage entrepreneurship, and serve as multidisciplinary solution-driven centres aligned with the specific needs of each beneficiary institution.
The initiative reflects the Federal Government’s broader commitment to improving Nigeria’s tertiary education system through innovation, skills development, and technology transfer.
