The Federal Government has approved the construction of an ₦800 million access road at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), aimed at improving internal connectivity and supporting academic and research activities in the institution.
The approval was granted by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, following a formal request by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele.
According to the ministry, the new road will link the Science Complex to the Agricultural Department, easing movement for students, researchers and staff across the two academic clusters.
It said the intervention aligns with the ministry’s infrastructure development mandate, noting that improved access within the university would enhance its capacity for advanced agricultural research and innovation.
The ministry added that the project also underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to expanding infrastructure that supports agricultural development, academic collaboration and national food security goals.
