The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will on Jan. 14 sign a new agreement aimed at strengthening industrial harmony and improving teaching and learning conditions in Nigerian universities.
This is contained in a circular issued by the Federal Ministry of Education through its University Education Department and addressed to Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of federal universities.
According to the circular, the agreement-signing ceremony is scheduled to hold at 11:00 a.m. prompt at the Conference Hall of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), No. 6, Zambesi Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.
The ministry said the event represents a critical milestone in promoting industrial peace within the university system and reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to the sustainable development of the education sector.
It added that the agreement aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in advancing reforms in the tertiary education sub-sector.
The circular further stated that attendance at the ceremony by invited university authorities is mandatory.

The invitation was signed by the Director of University Education, Mrs R. G. Ilyasu, on behalf of the Minister of Education.
