FG Declares Monday, Tuesday Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to uphold the values of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.

He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in fostering a harmonious society.

The minister also called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.

He expressed hope that the celebrations would inspire unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic lines.

“Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly while remembering the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, in keeping with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid,” the statement read.

He extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes on behalf of the Federal Government and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all Nigerians.
