FG Disburses N4.7bn to 42,227 TVET Trainees, 600 Centres in First Phase of Payments

The Federal Government has commenced the first tranche of direct payments under the Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, marking a major milestone in the rollout of the national skills development programme.

According to figures released on Wednesday, ₦4.7 billion has so far been disbursed to beneficiaries and accredited TVET centres across the country. Over 42,227 trainees have received their first-month stipend of ₦22,500, designed to support transportation and basic upkeep during the training period.

Similarly, more than 600 independent TVET centres have been credited as part of the first of four tranches of payments, ensuring continued delivery of high-quality, hands-on skills training nationwide.

The Ministry described the disbursements as a direct implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to expand access to practical, job-creating skills for young Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Officials noted that the initiative, which moved swiftly from registration to active training since May, is gaining strong momentum, with further tranches of payments expected in the coming weeks.

“This is just the beginning,” the Ministry stated. “The rapid rollout of these payments reflects Mr President’s commitment to equip our youth with the skills needed to drive jobs, entrepreneurship, and economic growth. TVET is Renewed Hope in action—empowering our young people to build their future.”

The government reiterated that disbursement is still ongoing, and additional beneficiaries and centres will continue to be credited as verification processes are completed.
