The Federal Government has announced the commencement of the Tax Reform Challenge, a nationwide competition aimed at promoting awareness, creativity, and youth participation in Nigeria’s ongoing tax reform process.
The initiative, announced on Friday through the official portal fiscalreforms.ng, seeks to engage students across the country in generating innovative ideas and content around the recently enacted tax reform laws.
According to the organisers, the challenge is designed to “raise awareness, promote tax education, and inspire constructive youth-led dialogue on Nigeria’s tax reform.”
The competition is open to undergraduates in all Nigerian tertiary institutions, as well as graduates currently undergoing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or awaiting mobilisation.
Participants are required to read and interpret the new tax laws, then create and submit original works in the form of articles, videos, podcasts, radio programmes, or social media content published between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
Submissions will be judged based on their educational value, creativity, factual accuracy, and engagement level. Entries that constructively critique the reform are also welcome.
The prize structure includes a ₦5 million grand prize for the first-place winner, ₦3 million for second place, and ₦2 million for third place.
Additionally, the top 10 finalists from each geopolitical zone will receive consolation prizes, including digital gadgets, internship or employment opportunities, and Tax Reform Youth Ambassador honours.
Speaking on the initiative, a member of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms said the competition aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive policymaking and youth empowerment.
“The idea is to make tax reform not just a government agenda but a national conversation — one that includes the voices of young Nigerians,” the official stated.
Interested applicants are encouraged to visit http://www.fiscalreforms.ng for detailed guidelines and submission procedures.
The organisers urged students to take advantage of the platform to “read, create, educate, and grow,” emphasising that the challenge offers an opportunity for young Nigerians to shape the nation’s fiscal future.
