FG Opens Applications for 2026/2027 Commonwealth Scholarships

The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026/2027 Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) for Nigerian students seeking postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

In a statement issued by the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) in Abuja, the application portal will open on Sept. 2, 2025, and close on Oct. 14, 2025.

According to the board, interested candidates for the Master’s programme must possess a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in their first degree, while PhD applicants must have at least a Second Class Lower Division.

Other requirements include possession of an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, evidence of securing at least two admissions from UK universities, and, for PhD candidates, a supporting statement from a UK university.

The statement stressed that application for the scholarship is free, and applicants are required to print out their completed forms before submitting them online.
