The Federal Ministry of Works has directed the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Potiskum-Gashua federal road in Yobe State to immediately implement temporary measures to restore the damaged portion of the road, which was cut off due to heavy flooding.
According to Engineer Abdurahaman Bukar, Acting Controller of Works in the state, the road is a critical economic artery, and the ministry is working to alleviate the hardship faced by motorists.
The 150-kilometer road has been awarded to two companies for rehabilitation, with J.R.B Construction handling section 1 from Potiskum to Fani in Jakusko local government area, and Rocks Seed Construction handling section 2 from Fani to Gashua.
Bukar appealed to motorists to exercise patience, assuring that the government is working to repair the damaged portion while the complete rehabilitation will soon commence.
