FG Rewards Top Teachers with ₦350m, Unveils EduRevamp Platform

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to repositioning teachers as the backbone of national development by rewarding outstanding educators with cash prizes totalling ₦350 million and unveiling EduRevamp, a national platform for continuous teacher professional development.

The initiatives were announced at the National Teachers’ Summit 2026 held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, with the theme: “Empowering Teachers, Strengthening the System: A National Agenda for Education Transformation and Sustainability.”

Speaking at the summit, the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, CON, described teachers as the quiet architects of great nations, stressing that no country can achieve sustainable progress without motivated, supported and well-equipped educators. She reiterated that education remains central to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, said 12 outstanding teachers emerged from a transparent, merit-based selection process drawn from nominations across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, each of the awardees received ₦25 million, while the Overall Best Teacher, Mr. Taiwo Solanke, received a ₦50 million grand prize, in addition to donations from some state governments.

Alausa also unveiled the EduRevamp Online Teacher Professional Development Portal, describing it as a key national platform designed to strengthen teacher capacity, professionalism and career development.

He added that the summit would serve as a collaborative platform for educators, policymakers, unions, development partners and the private sector to advance sustainable education reforms.

The minister said the National Teachers’ Summit 2026 would continue until Jan. 28, with sessions focused on celebrating excellence in teaching and strengthening Nigeria’s education system.
