FG, SSANU Re-Negotiation Committee Resumes Talks

The Federal Government–expanded Tertiary Institutions Re-Negotiation Committee and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Re-Negotiation Committee on Wednesday resumed talks aimed at resolving outstanding issues affecting non-academic staff in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The meeting, which lasted several hours, reviewed key milestones recorded so far in the re-negotiation process and deliberated on pending matters requiring further engagement between both parties.

Although no final resolution was reached, the committees agreed to adjourn discussions to January 2026 to allow for continued consultations and progress on unresolved areas.

Both sides expressed commitment to sustaining dialogue in the interest of industrial harmony within the nation’s tertiary education system.

The resumption of talks is seen as a positive step toward addressing long-standing concerns of SSANU members, as stakeholders remain hopeful that the re-negotiation process will yield tangible outcomes in the new year.

The union reaffirmed its resolve to pursue its demands through sustained engagement, declaring, “Aluta Continua,” as negotiations continue.
