The Federal Government has announced its intention to integrate the Almajiri system into the national school feeding program, aiming to provide meals to children in these traditional educational settings.
Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Home-Grown School Feeding, revealed this development during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Jigawa State.
The purpose of the visit was to brief the Governor on the Federal Government’s initiative to broaden the reach of the school feeding program to include Almajiri schools, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring adequate nutrition for schoolchildren nationwide.
Governor Umar Namadi expressed gratitude to the SSA for the update and extended appreciation to President Tinubu for endorsing the program’s continuation. He highlighted the program’s success and positive impact in Jigawa State, emphasizing the state’s readiness to support its implementation.
“We have witnessed the program’s benefits in Jigawa and eagerly anticipate its reinstatement,” Governor Namadi affirmed, pledging full cooperation to ensure the program’s effectiveness and success.
