Fintiri Appointed Chairman, PDP National Convention Organising Committee

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State as Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) for the party’s 2025 National Convention.

The appointment was announced at the 99th meeting of the NEC held in Abuja, where party leaders unanimously endorsed Fintiri to lead preparations for the convention scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30, 2025.

Fintiri’s appointment is seen as a reaffirmation of the party’s confidence in his leadership capacity, strategic insight, and dedication to party unity. The governor previously chaired the successful 2021 PDP National Convention, a role that earned him praise for his organisational skills and inclusive leadership.

In a statement on Friday, party officials described Fintiri as a tested and trusted leader whose track record in governance and party affairs made him the ideal choice to oversee the crucial event.

“Governor Fintiri’s commitment to the ideals of the PDP, his experience in managing large-scale political engagements, and his ability to unite diverse interests within the party informed his selection,” the statement said.

Under Fintiri’s administration, Adamawa State has recorded significant socio-economic progress, earning him recognition as a transformative and visionary leader both within and beyond the state.

The PDP National Convention is a significant gathering for the party, expected to shape its strategic direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party stakeholders have expressed optimism that the upcoming convention, under Fintiri’s leadership, will further consolidate the PDP’s internal cohesion and bolster its readiness to reclaim power at the national level.
