
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has assured the newly posted Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan Umar, of the state government’s full support in consolidating security across the state.
Fintiri gave the assurance when the police commissioner paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Yola, where he described the officer as seasoned and disciplined, and well prepared for the responsibility of sustaining peace and order.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies, emphasising that the protection of lives and property remained a primary responsibility of government.
He observed that while the state previously faced significant security challenges, the situation had improved considerably due to deliberate coordination and sustained collaboration with security operatives.
Fintiri pledged continued support to the police command in critical areas such as logistics, intelligence sharing and personnel welfare, noting that effective policing depends on strong institutional backing and operational efficiency.
He urged the police commissioner to uphold professionalism, neutrality and fairness in the discharge of his duties, stressing that security operations must be guided strictly by the rule of law and free from political influence.
In his remarks, Umar expressed appreciation to the governor for the warm reception and confidence reposed in him, pledging to deploy his experience toward strengthening peace and stability in the state.
The commissioner commended the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development and governance, describing them as impactful and beneficial to residents.
He assured that the command would reinforce its security architecture to address emerging threats while strengthening community policing initiatives.
Umar also called on residents to support law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information, reaffirming the command’s commitment to professionalism and the protection of all citizens.
