Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged full support for the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration and 25th combined convocation of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), scheduled to hold in November 2025.
Fintiri, an alumnus of the university, made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the institution’s planning committee on Tuesday, led by Professor Yakubu Muktar. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to partner with UNIMAID to ensure a befitting celebration, describing the institution as instrumental to his academic and personal development.
“I am proud to be associated with this great citadel of learning. UNIMAID made me who I am, and I will continue to identify with and support the university in every way possible,” Fintiri said.
Earlier, Professor Muktar, who chairs the planning committee, praised Governor Fintiri for his progressive governance strides in Adamawa State. He also extended sympathies on behalf of the university community over the recent flood disaster in Yola and appealed for sustained collaboration toward the success of the jubilee event.
The meeting, held at the Governor’s Lodge, ended with mutual expressions of solidarity and a renewed commitment to strengthening the relationship between the university and its distinguished alumni.
