Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has received the prestigious Golden Award of Excellence for Education and Teacher Friendliness from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), in recognition of his administration’s commitment to the education sector.
The award was presented in Abuja during an event marking the 2025 World Teachers’ Day.
Presenting the award, the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa, described Fintiri as “the most teacher-friendly governor in Nigeria,” lauding his consistent efforts to improve the welfare and professional standing of teachers in the state.
The NUT said the award was a “true testament” to Gov. Fintiri’s policies aimed at empowering educators, uplifting learners, and transforming the education landscape in Adamawa.
“The selection of Governor Fintiri reflects a clear impact of his administration’s efforts in improving the working conditions, infrastructure, and capacity development across the education sector,” the union said.

Responding, Gov. Fintiri expressed gratitude to the NUT for the recognition and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making education the bedrock of sustainable development in Adamawa.
“This honour is not just for me but for every teacher, learner, and stakeholder working tirelessly to reposition our education system. We will continue to invest in people, policy, and infrastructure to secure a better future for our children,” he said.
