Fintiri Debunks School Closure Rumour, Warns Against Spread of False Information

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the state government has ordered the closure of schools.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor described the rumour as “false, baseless, and the handiwork of mischief makers.”

“At no point did the Government direct schools to close, and we have no intention to do so,” the statement said. “This malicious rumor is the work of those bent on tarnishing the image of the Government and disrupting public peace.”

Fintiri urged residents to disregard the report, stressing that academic activities across the state would continue as scheduled. He assured parents, students, and school administrators that the government had not contemplated shutting down schools.

The governor warned that the state would take decisive action against individuals or groups found guilty of spreading false information with the intent to cause chaos.

“We will not tolerate any attempt to undermine our efforts to reposition the education sector and improve the lives of our citizens,” he said.

Fintiri highlighted what he described as significant strides recorded by his administration in revitalising the education sector, adding that government remained committed to providing quality education and expanding access for children across the state.

He appealed to residents to remain vigilant against misinformation and continue to support government efforts aimed at building a stronger and more progressive Adamawa State.

The governor reiterated that anyone found spreading malicious rumours would face the full weight of the law.
