Fintiri Dissolves Jimeta Market Board, Orders Immediate Handover

Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Management Board of the Jimeta Modern Market.

Following the dissolution, the Board Chairman and all members have been relieved of their duties and instructed to hand over all government properties in their possession to the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, who will now oversee the operations of the market.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou on Wednesday, Governor Fintiri directed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to ensure a smooth transition process and sustain the market’s operational efficiency.

“The Ministry of Commerce and Industry must now ensure a seamless transition and work diligently to maintain the market’s functionality,” the Governor stated.

He also emphasized the need to prioritize the welfare of traders and all stakeholders, urging the relevant authorities to create a conducive environment that promotes commerce and economic development in the state.

“The market’s success is crucial to the state’s economic well-being, and we expect the ministry to take all necessary steps to ensure its optimal operation,” Fintiri added.

The Jimeta Modern Market, one of the largest commercial hubs in the state, plays a vital role in Adamawa’s economy. The government’s latest action is seen as part of ongoing efforts to reform and enhance efficiency in public market management.
