Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged off the reconstruction of the 24.1-kilometre Mubi–Maiha Road, valued at ₦14.9 billion, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive infrastructure development.
The event, held at the Mubi–Maiha Road junction on Friday, marked another milestone in the state government’s drive to enhance road connectivity, boost cross-border trade, and ease the movement of people and goods between Nigeria and neighbouring Cameroon.
Speaking at the ceremony, Fintiri said the project reflects his administration’s development philosophy that “no one will be left behind and nothing will be left untouched.”
He explained that although the Mubi–Maiha Road is a federal road, the state government decided to intervene to alleviate the hardship faced by residents and commuters who rely on the route daily.
“The road, when completed, will not only improve transportation but also enhance commerce and strengthen international relations with Cameroon,” the governor said.
Fintiri disclosed that 40 percent of the total project cost has already been paid to the contractor, Triacta Nigeria Limited, to ensure timely delivery. He assured residents of Mubi and Maiha that the project would not be abandoned, urging the contractor to uphold the highest standards of quality.
He also announced plans to launch additional infrastructure projects, including the Mubi–Gella Road and Ahmadu Bello Road, as part of ongoing efforts to open up communities and stimulate economic growth across the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, commended Fintiri’s leadership, describing him as the “architect of modern Adamawa.”
He said the Ministry of Works and Energy Development has been working diligently on major infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, drainages, culverts, and flyovers — many of which are the first of their kind in the state’s history.
According to him, the Mubi–Maiha Road project, awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited at a total cost of ₦14.98 billion, is scheduled for completion within 15 months, though he expressed optimism that it would be delivered ahead of schedule.
He appealed to residents of communities along the route to cooperate with the contractor to ensure smooth execution of the project.
Speaking on behalf of Triacta Nigeria Limited, Engineer Wajib pledged that the company would deliver the project on time and to the highest standards.
“This road represents more than just infrastructure — it symbolizes better connections, safer travel, and stronger communities,” he said.
Community leaders who attended the event expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri, describing the project as a long-awaited development that would significantly improve transportation, trade, and economic activities in the region.
