Fintiri Hosts Security Meeting With Traditional Rulers To Address Communal Disputes, Strengthen Peace

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Monday convened a high-level security meeting with traditional rulers aimed at addressing rising communal disputes and reinforcing peace across the state.

The meeting, which took place at the Government House, Yola, was held behind closed doors and had in attendance first-class traditional rulers, senior government officials, and heads of security agencies.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Fintiri emphasized the critical role of traditional institutions in conflict prevention and resolution, noting that their involvement was key to sustaining peace and unity among communities.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging traditional rulers to remain vigilant and proactive in identifying early warning signs of communal tensions.

Governor Fintiri also stressed the need for collaborative efforts between security agencies, government, and traditional leaders to address emerging security challenges, especially those related to land disputes, boundary issues, and inter-communal conflicts.

Participants at the meeting reaffirmed their support for the government’s peace initiatives and pledged to intensify grassroots engagements to foster harmonious coexistence.
