Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has approved the continued use of electric bicycles across the state, following public complaints over their restriction.
The approval came after a meeting involving the Adamawa State Police Command, the State Chapter of the Electric Bicycle Users Association, and the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters, Hon. Ahmad Lawan on Saturday.
However, the police command reaffirmed that the ban on petrol-powered motorcycles, tricycles, and other fuel-based two-wheelers remains in force in parts of Yola North, Yola South, and Girei, citing ongoing security concerns.
The Electric Bicycle Users Association expressed satisfaction with the governor’s decision and pledged to continue adhering to all regulations guiding the use of their bikes.
They also thanked Governor Fintiri and the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankwambo Morris, for what they described as a patriotic and humane intervention.
Fintiri has once again shown his commitment to responsive governance.
