Fintiri Pledges Commitment To Youth, Women Empowerment

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering youths and women for sustainable development.

Fintiri made the pledge when he received a delegation from the Yusrah Muslim and Youths Organisation on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Yola on Tuesday.

The governor, who expressed gratitude for the visit, noted that it coincided with the holy month of Ramadan. He said the ongoing development in Adamawa was part of his campaign promise to ensure good governance.

Fintiri recalled that his administration inherited a distressed state aggravated by insurgency but had since restored stability.

He described youths and women as the most vulnerable groups in society, stressing the need for their empowerment through education and employment.

“To address this, we are sponsoring education and recruiting more teachers to man newly built institutions, including one dedicated to women across the state,” he said.

The governor urged the delegation to continue in prayers and advocacy for peace and mutual understanding among the people.

Earlier, Prof. Fatima Joda, who spoke on behalf of the Amirah of the organisation, commended Fintiri for his interventions in Adamawa.

She listed initiatives such as the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency and infrastructural development as key factors in reviving women-owned businesses.

Joda said the organisation remained committed to assisting women and youths through skills acquisition and empowerment programmes.
