Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening ties with newly coronated chiefs to foster development and enhance economic prosperity at the grassroots.
Governor Fintiri made this pledge during a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of Madagali Local Government Area, Ptil Madagali, His Royal Highness Dr. Ali Danburam, at his palace in Gulak on Sunday.
The Governor, who was in Gulak—his hometown—for a walking visit to mark the Easter celebration, visited the royal father for the first time since his coronation two months ago. The visit was aimed at identifying with the Chief and the entire Madagali community during the festive season.
While addressing the royal father, district heads, and subjects, Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for vigilance, noting that insurgency in the region remains a concern. He cited recent attacks in parts of the state as a reminder that the threat posed by insurgents is not yet over.
He urged traditional leaders to be proactive and deliberate about the security of their communities, assuring them that the government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
The Governor also called for sincere collaboration between traditional institutions and government agencies, particularly in sharing timely and relevant intelligence with security operatives. He specifically tasked district heads with relaying critical information that could aid security efforts and pledged his administration’s continued support.
Governor Fintiri further revealed his administration’s readiness to partner with traditional rulers in addressing the issue of out-of-school children and youth unemployment. He said empowering young people with job opportunities is vital to enhancing economic growth at the grassroots.
In his response, Ptil Madagali, HRH Dr. Ali Danburam, thanked the Governor for giving the people of Madagali a sense of belonging through the creation of the Madagali Chiefdom—a move he described as restoring their dignity and cultural heritage.
The royal father pledged absolute loyalty to the Governor and his administration, assuring him of continued cooperation to ensure security and economic development of the area.
He also congratulated Governor Fintiri on his appointment as Chairman of the forthcoming PDP National Convention, describing it as a testament to his leadership qualities. He expressed confidence in the Governor’s ability to deliver and offered prayers for his success during and beyond his tenure.
