Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaborate with workers for the sustainable growth and development of the state.
The Governor made the declaration on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the organised labour, led by Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, to his office at the Government House, Yola.
Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for their visit and solicited continued support and cooperation from workers, whom he described as custodians of development due to their presence in the grassroots communities across Adamawa.
“The policies implemented by this administration have positively impacted every citizen in the state,” the Governor stated. He also reaffirmed his resolve to fulfill all campaign promises, particularly highlighting the ongoing transparent employment of qualified candidates.
On addressing pension challenges, Governor Fintiri advocated for permanent solutions through a contributory pension scheme to clear the backlog of pension arrears owed to retirees in the state.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, commended Governor Fintiri for his pro-labour policies, describing him as a “messiah to workers in Adamawa.”
Comrade Fashe praised the administration for its prompt payment of the New National Minimum Wage, handling of salary matters, provision of 60 percent housing allowance, ongoing employment of 12,000 youths, and timely release of funds for gratuity payments to retired civil servants.
