Fintiri Reaffirms Support for Security Forces at Inter-Brigade Competition in Yola

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies in tackling insecurity across the state.

Fintiri made the pledge at the opening of the 3 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition 2025, held at Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Yola.

The competition drew participants from six formations under the 3 Division’s area of responsibility, including the 33 Artillery Brigade (Bauchi), 6 Brigade (Jalingo), 23 Armoured Brigade (Yola), 3 Division Garrison, 43 Engineer Brigade, and 53 Signal Brigade (Jos).

The officers participated in drills and exercises aimed at testing leadership, organizational ability, initiative, and physical fitness.

Fintiri, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, commended the personnel for their professionalism and sacrifices in maintaining peace despite internal and external threats.

He noted that courage alone could not address modern security challenges and stressed the need to equip the military with the right tools, training, and community support.

“The competition is a strong affirmation of the qualities that define you as exceptional soldiers,” he said.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s partnership with security agencies and pledged sustained support for programmes that enhance operational effectiveness.

Speaking on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, the Commander 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, Brig.-Gen. Amechi Agwu, commended the participants for their commitment.

He described the event as a demonstration of shared values in combat readiness and urged the officers to continue leading by example.

Agwu also encouraged younger personnel to emulate the courage and resilience of their seniors.
