Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged the newly inaugurated Adamawa State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to promote unity and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures ahead of future elections.
The governor gave the charge on Thursday when he received the new executive members on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Yola.
Describing the new leadership as “an assembly of men and women of character and integrity,” Fintiri urged the party officials to work in harmony and remain focused on consolidating the gains of the PDP in the state.
He further directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to ensure that all salary-earning members of the party fulfil their obligations by paying party dues regularly.
“I assure you of the full support of my administration,” the governor said.
“Don’t be in a hurry to bring out candidates; it’s not yet time. When the time comes, we’ll know who can win elections. What matters is victory for the party. If anyone wishes to leave, they should do so without blackmail.”
Fintiri reaffirmed his commitment to internal democracy, urging the party to remain united and focused on building a structure capable of sustaining its winning streak in the state.
Earlier, the newly elected PDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, commended the governor for ensuring a transparent and credible congress process.
He praised Fintiri’s achievements in education, infrastructure, security, and youth empowerment, describing Adamawa under his leadership as “a model of purposeful governance.”
“We are grateful for the confidence reposed in us and assure Your Excellency of our loyalty and commitment to the ideals of the party,” Madagali said.
He pledged that the new leadership would work closely with the administration to strengthen party unity and deliver on the expectations of the people.
