A devastating fire engulfed the Yola Town Main Market, a crucial commercial center serving Yola Town in Adamawa State, resulting in the destruction of merchandise and valuable properties.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire broke out in the early hours of Monday, consuming shops and goods within the market. Traders who had retained the proceeds of Sunday’s sales expressed regret over not securing their earnings at home.
The cause of the fire remained undetermined at the time of this report, with local residents dismissing any connection to electricity due to a widespread blackout in the area.
Fortunately, no human casualties have been reported in connection with the incident.
Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, extended sympathy to the affected traders during a visit to the market before 10 am on Monday. Assuring the traders of the government’s support during this distressing period, the Deputy Governor conveyed solidarity with those impacted by the tragic event.
