A recent flood disaster in Bauchi State has resulted in the loss of four lives, destruction of houses, and submergence of farmlands. The Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed the incident, stating that the flood affected Shira, Giade, and Katagum Local Government Areas.
According to SEMA’s Director-General, Mr. Masud Aliyu, the flood was caused by torrential rains in the past few days, leaving thousands homeless and cutting off roads, including the Kano-Maiduguri expressway.
The state government has mobilized contractors to repair the damaged roads and provide an alternative route for road users.
Aliyu urged residents to heed the warnings by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) about impending flood disasters.
