The Bilachi Bwatiye community in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State has appealed to the authorities for urgent humanitarian assistance following a devastating flood that has displaced residents and destroyed livelihoods.
In a statement signed by representatives of the community, the residents said the disaster had created severe food insecurity, destroyed homes and washed away farmlands – the mainstay of their economy.
“Our situation is dire, and we desperately need help. Our farms have been completely washed away, leaving us without food or income,” the statement read.
According to the community, the loss of farmlands and crops has threatened their means of livelihood, while the destruction of homes has left many families without shelter or access to basic necessities.
They appealed for immediate food aid to avert hunger, temporary shelters for displaced persons, and agricultural support such as seeds, fertilizers, and other farm inputs to restore their livelihoods.
“In light of this devastating situation, we humbly appeal to the concerned authorities to provide us with the necessary assistance to recover from this disaster. Your prompt response will go a long way in alleviating our suffering and helping us rebuild our lives,” they said.
The community called on government agencies, humanitarian organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to come to their aid.
