The devastating floods in Madagali Council area of Adamawa State have claimed seven more lives, bringing the total death toll to 13. The non-stop heavy downpours have continued to wreak havoc, displacing more people and destroying homes.
According to Mohammed Suleiman, an official of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, eight camps have been set up to accommodate the displaced persons, with more likely to be opened if the rains persist.
The floods have left many families grieving the loss of loved ones, while others are struggling to rebuild their lives. Aisha Adamu, a 63-year-old resident of Shuwa, lost her home to the floodwaters and is now seeking assistance to rebuild.
The Chairman of Madagali Local Government, Simon Musa Sashi, described the flood’s destruction as devastating, noting that both state and federal aid are needed to cushion the effect.
The District Head of Duhu, Mustapha Mohammed Sanusi, appealed for urgent assistance, stating that the community is in an emergency situation and needs food and other relief materials.
