Food Security: Adamawa Senator Supports Farmers With 40 Boreholes, Water Pumps

On Food Security, the Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, has sank boreholes as well as distribited water pump machines to farmers in Gombi LGA. News Platform reports.

According to Senator Iya Abbas, the gesture is aimed at encouraging farmers to actively engage in dry season farming so as to boost food production in the LGA and Adamawa State in general.

Sen. Iya Abbas, had while distributing the empowerement items in Gombi LGA  on Tuesday, said that the gesture is aimed at assisting rural farmers as a way to reduce poverty at the grassroots.

The Senator who was represented by the immediate past Member Gombi constituency, Hon. Japhet Kefas, explained that the distribution of the items was in fulfillment of the promise he had made to them recently.

He told them that he had already made a promise to them when he visited the LGA and deemed it necessary to fulfill it as part of effort to cushion the effect of hardship being faced by his elctorate.

He said that the Senator had promised to deliver dividends of democracy to his constituents, saying that embracing dry season becomes necessary in order to make food available and affordable.

He cautioned them not sell the items but to use it for the purpose intended, and promised to do his best in providing good representing to his people.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman Gombi LGCs, Hon. Abdulrahman Dauda Shanga, commended the Senator for responding to his electorate within the short period of time.

Some of the beneficiaries who bared their minds at the event, applauded the Senator for the gesture and wished him a successful tenure.
