GOC Visits Chibok, Urges Troops to Sustain Fight Against Terrorism

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brig.-Gen. Abubakar Haruna, has commended troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade (TF Bde) for their resilience in combating Boko Haram and other insurgent groups in the North East.

Haruna, who visited the brigade’s headquarters on Wednesday in Chibok, was received by the Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Bede Amakor, and inspected a quarter guard on arrival. He later received an operational briefing on the brigade’s activities and challenges.

Addressing the troops, Haruna urged them to remain disciplined, loyal, and committed to the chain of command, emphasizing the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and dedication to troop welfare under the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.

He warned against involvement in illicit activities, particularly arms racketeering, noting that offenders would face severe disciplinary actions. He assured the troops of continued logistical support to bolster their operations.

The GOC also encouraged regular family communication and periodic leave, in line with operational guidelines, to sustain morale and mental well-being.

Senior officers of the 7 Division accompanied the GOC during the visit, which highlighted the Army’s resolve to sustain the fight against terrorism and ensure peace in the region.
