Gombe ACReSAL, Super Bikers Plant 6000 Trees at Fed. Poly Kaltungo

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL Gombe state in collaboration with Jewel Biker and Motorcycle Club has commenced planting of 6000 trees at the Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, Gombe state.

Speaking during the occasion the ACReSAL State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro said the event was part of effort towards restoring degraded land and greening the environment, which is in tandem to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s Gombe Goes Green, 3G initiative.

He said so far, in the two years under review, Gombe State ACReSAL has planted nearly a hundred hectares of land across the state, adding that the project is targeting to plant not less than 6000 trees in federal polytechnic Kaltungo.

He commended the bikers for their effort and reiterated their commitment to keep synergizing with them to carry out the project of planting trees in the environment and pledged to establish an orchard plantation which will serve as a demonstration plot to expose students to different kinds of activities for better education.

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo, Dr Suleiman Muhammed expressed excitement and appreciated the ACReSAL Gombe for picking federal polytechnic Kaltungo for their tree planting exercise, adding that it will help in addressing the problem of land degradation.

While highlighting the importance of trees in the environment as well as the need for tree planting, the state commissioners for Ministry of Agriculture, Animal husbandry and cooperatives, Dr. Barnabas Malle, his counterpart from Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Muhammed Saidu Fawu, Chairman Kaltungo LGA. Iliya Suleiman among other dignitaries applauded ACReSAL for their effort in greening Gombe state and for the tree planting in Kaltungo LGA.

Speaking to newsmen, the National President of Superbikes Club Association of Nigeria, Hussaini Misari and the state chairman of the Jewel Bikers club Gombe, Bashir Magaji highlighted some of the philanthropic gestures they have carried out, adding that the Jewel bikers Gombe have been hosting the annual event, to give back  to  the  society.

Over 200 Super Bikers from across the country participated in the event.
