Gombe Assembly Approves N617.95bn Budget for 2026 Fiscal Year

The Gombe State House of Assembly has approved a total budget of ₦617.95 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, exceeding the initial proposal submitted by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The approval followed the presentation and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Appropriation, chaired by Hon. Aliyu Baba Manu, during plenary on Wednesday.

Presenting the committee’s report, Hon. Manu disclosed that the approved sum of ₦617,953,083,000 represents the total expenditure framework for the 2026 fiscal year and reflects an increase of ₦82.26 billion over the executive proposal.

He added that the revised budget projects a closing balance of ₦58.93 billion by the end of the 2026 fiscal year.

Lawmakers unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations and subsequently passed the revised budget into law.

The committee also recommended that revenue generated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources be fully captured under the state’s Revenue Law. According to the committee, this move would strengthen revenue mobilisation and enable the ministry to better harness the state’s energy and mineral resource potential.

With the budget approval, the state government is expected to prioritise strategic investments in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and job creation.

The passage of the budget marks a major step in Gombe State’s preparations for the 2026 fiscal year, as the government seeks to stimulate economic growth and enhance service delivery to residents.
